Before you start generating new images, please take a moment to read the “Terms Of Service”.
This website was designed and developed by Cosmin Cotor, and it allows you to easily generate placeholders with which you can replace your images.
Why?!
Some copyright holders may allow you to use their images in your projects but only in previews, you may not be allowed to redistribute them (e.g. in WordPress themes, HTML/CSS templates…) together with the source files. In those cases you need to replace the images that will be redistributed with the source files with images that can be redistributed or with placeholders.
The services offered by “placeder.com” are FREE and don’t include any type of advertisements.
Here’s how it works!
On the home page you have various options that allow you to customize the image that will be generated. Once you click “GENERATE!” the website will create your image and will give you a customized URL which you can use as the value for your image’s “src” attribute (<img src=””/>).
The URL MUST contain the following:
http://placeder.com/ + ? + width=1092 + & + height=480
The order of the options is not important, but the “width” and “height” are required (the values above are used as examples, you can replace them with your own).
Here are all the options:
| width (required) – the width of the image that will be generated (please enter a numeric value, without any letters – e.g. 1092) |
| height (required) – the height of the image that will be generated (please enter a numeric value, without any letters – e.g. 480) |
| type (optional) – choose if the generated image will be a PNG file or a JPEG file (the default value is png) |
| compression (optional, depends on “type”) – change the compression level for PNG images to create larger or smaller files (please enter a numeric value from 0 – 9, without any letters – e.g. 9) |
| background (optional) – the background color of the image that will be generated (e.g. #f0f0f0) |
| quality (optional, depends on “type”) – change the quality level for JPEG images to create larger or smaller files (please enter a numeric value from 0 – 100, without any letters – e.g. 100) |
| text (optional) – replace the text that will be shown over the generated image (the default text is the size of the image – e.g. 1092 x 480) |
| color (optional) – the color of the text that will be shown over the generated image (you can change this option even if you don’t change the default text – e.g #444349) |
| size (optional) – the size of the text that will be shown over generated image (you can change this option even if you don’t change the default text) |
